Work That Does NOT Require a Permit
- One-story detached residential accessory structures (sheds, playhouses) up to 200 sq ft
- Fences not over 7 feet high (zoning review still required)
- Decks not more than 30 inches above grade
- Oil derricks
- Retaining walls not over 4 feet high (unless supporting surcharge or impounding Class I, II, or III-A liquids)
- Water tanks on grade (capacity not exceeding 5,000 gallons; height-to-diameter ratio not exceeding 2:1)
- Sidewalks and driveways not more than 30 inches above grade
- Decks not attached to dwelling and not serving required exit door
