Work That Does NOT Require a Permit

- Certain small detached accessory structures within USBC exemption limits.
- Certain tents and air-supported structures within USBC exemption limits.
- Certain shallow and small swimming pools within USBC exemption limits.
- Replacement of above-ground LP-gas containers of the same capacity in the same location using the same piping.
- Ordinary repairs and finish work that the USBC exempts, such as paint, wallpaper, floor finishes, cabinetry and trim in place, and limited nonstructural repair categories.
Important: Massaponax-area parcels may still trigger county Chesapeake Bay Preservation, floodplain, environmental, and zoning review even if a narrow building-permit exemption applies.
