General Requirements

A building permit is required for construction and alterations within the City of Lindale.

Building code: IBC 2021 and NEC 2020
Contractor requirements: Contractors must hold the applicable Texas state license and an active City of Lindale business license. The business-license fee is $100.

Minimum permit fee: $100.00
Permit fee formula: Residential new construction: $0.20 per square foot. Remodel permit: $0.25 per square foot with $100.00 minimum. Electrical new construction: $0.06 per square foot with $60.00 minimum.
Reinspection fee: Assessed when a site is not ready
Penalty (no permit): Penalties may apply if work starts before a permit is acquired
