Application Process

1. Confirm the project scope and whether city permit packets or checklists apply. The city posts residential new-construction, commercial new-construction, and commercial remodel/finish-out packets.
2. Register the contractor(s) in CityWorks. The portal is also used for contractor registrations.
3. Prepare the required application and digital plans. Residential submittal requirements state all validated subcontractors must be licensed and currently registered with the city.
4. Submit the permit application through CityWorks. Contractors and business owners/agents may apply online for building permits and certificates of occupancy in the portal.
5. Pay permit fees through the portal once the application is ready for issuance.
6. Perform work only after permit issuance.
7. Schedule inspections in CityWorks. Inspection requests must be received by 7:30 p.m. the prior day to be included on the day's schedule.

General Requirements

The city requires permits for remodeling a home or business, arbors, fences, roofs, retaining walls, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, irrigation systems, swimming pools/hot tubs, signs/banners, accessory buildings, demolition, driveways, patios, patio covers, and decks.
