Application Process

  1. Determine project type using the Residential Projects, Commercial Projects, and FAQ pages.
  2. For new commercial buildings, contact Development at (901) 457-2300 to schedule a pre-application meeting.
  3. Submit the town building permit application, plans, and required supporting documents to Building and Codes; contractors may apply for most permits through the iWorQ portal, and in-person applications are accepted at Town Hall.
  4. Pay the plan review fee at submittal.
  5. Address review comments; when approved, the town may schedule a pre-construction meeting for commercial projects.
  6. Receive the building permit, then pull trade permits as needed.
  7. Complete required inspections and obtain CO when all applicable divisions approve the work.
