Application Process

- Pay building permit fees, impact fees if applicable, and related department fees.
- After permit issuance, request required inspections by email to the Codes office.
- Complete final approvals before occupancy or use.

General Requirements
City publishes permit applications for residential buildings, commercial buildings, decks, fences, retaining walls, sheds, swimming pools, patio covers, pergolas, screen porches, sewer or water taps, signs, and flood zone work. Permits required unless adopted code exemption applies.

Work That Does NOT Require a Permit
- Portable one-story detached accessory structures used as tool/storage sheds, playhouses, and similar uses where floor area does not exceed 32 square feet
- Fences not over 32 inches high
- Replacement of HVAC unit where heating/cooling capacity and fuel source are not changed
- Decks not exceeding 9 square feet in area and not more than 30 inches above grade at any point
- Roof covering replacement that does not involve replacement of roof deck or framing
