Application Process

  1. Review the Codes page and determine the correct permit type and submittal standard, such as the Building Permit and Building Plan Review Application, residential site plan sketch form, residential or commercial digital submission standards, or pool and grading forms.
  2. Prepare the application package. The online building permit application requires property and applicant details, contractor information, project valuation and scope, and uploads for plans, contractor license, and workers compensation proof or exemption.
  3. Submit through the iWorQ portal or work with Development Services at the Municipal Center if filing in person.
  4. City staff reviews zoning and code compliance, and project-specific standards or revisions may be required before issuance.
  5. Pay permit fees and any related review fees shown on the city fee schedule.
  6. After permit issuance, keep the permit on site, schedule required inspections, and obtain final approval or certificate of occupancy as applicable.

Typical processing time: The city posts no universal turnaround. A related Maryville access permit procedure states 1 to 2 days for that engineering review only, not a general building permit estimate.
