Application Process

  1. Determine whether the project needs a County building permit, a Town zoning permit, or both. Mint Hill states small accessory structures and some local items may require only a zoning permit, while larger work requires County building permits.
  2. If a building permit is required, initiate the process with Mecklenburg County LUESA.
  3. If a Mint Hill zoning permit is required, complete the Town zoning permit form on the zoning-permits page.
  4. Contact the Planning Department before paying review fees. Mint Hill says payment is by mailed check to the Town or in-person cash, check, or credit card at Town Hall.
  5. Submit any required accessory-structure information and confirm setbacks and UDO compliance with Town staff.
  6. Mint Hill states the zoning permit will be issued by email after review and payment.
  7. For work requiring County building permits, continue through Mecklenburg County review and inspection.
