Application Process

  1. Confirm permit category through the Permits and Inspections pages for residential or commercial work.
  2. Create or use a CentralSquare account after the city transition that took effect on August 4, 2025.
  3. Upload the completed construction permit application, plans, site plan if required, contractor license, business license, and photo ID.
  4. Obtain any required DeKalb County approvals and upload the county approval sheets back into the city permit record if routed.
  5. Pay fees online or at City Hall after city review is complete.
  6. Receive permit issuance, post the permit, and request inspections in CentralSquare.
  7. Complete final inspections and obtain completion/occupancy approval.
