Application Process

  1. Confirm the parcel is inside Fort White town limits.
  2. Start at Town Hall with the town's Application for Building Permit/Compliance and Building Compliance Check List.
  3. Complete the town's compliance review covering zoning/land use, setbacks, road access or culvert approvals, SRWMD runoff/water-use review where needed, Health Department sanitary wastewater permit need, water source, slab elevation requirement, solid waste approval, and fill/removal permit questions.
  4. Obtain the town's land use certification/compliance sign-off.
  5. Take that town certification to the Columbia County Building Department for the actual building permit application and issuance.
  6. After county permit issuance, submit a copy of the Columbia County building permit back to the Town of Fort White.
  7. If the project includes signage, obtain the separate Town sign permit required by the town's Land Development Code.
