Application Process

  4. Prepare 3 sealed sets of construction plans signed and sealed by a Florida architect or engineer.
  5. Include truss or rafter uplift load summary sheet, truss layouts, and energy calculations (Form 600A, 600B, or 600C).
  6. Include site plan, recorded notice of commencement (for projects $2,500 or more), and proof of ownership.
  7. Provide proof of workers compensation insurance or exemption for contractor and subcontractors.
  8. Submit complete application in person to Building Department at 118 E. Macclenny Ave.
  9. City staff reviews for completeness and compliance; incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  10. Pay permit, plan review, and inspection fees as invoiced.

A building permit is required to construct, enlarge, alter, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building.

  • Copy of signed dated contract (if applicable) or project value documentation

  • Energy form 600A, 600B, or 600C
  • 3 copies of energy calculations
  • 3 copies of site plan showing property dimensions, all existing and proposed structures, and setbacks
  • Recorded notice of commencement for projects of $2,500 or more
  • Owner-builder disclosure statement and affidavit (if applicable)
  • Proof of workers compensation insurance or exemption for contractor and subcontractors
Permit validity
Permit becomes invalid if an inspection for permanent construction is not requested within 180 days, or if more than 6 months elapse between inspections.
