General Requirements
Prescott Valley Town Code section 7-01-140 requires a permit for all buildings, structures, or building service equipment, including fences, retaining walls, fireplaces, wood stoves, and gas/electric/solid-fuel appliances.

- Permit applications are deemed abandoned after 180 days unless pursued in good faith or a permit is issued. The building official may grant one written extension of up to 180 days.

Work That Does NOT Require a Permit
- One-story detached accessory buildings up to 144 square feet for one- and two-family dwellings
- Masonry or concrete fences up to 4 feet in height
- Wood or other fences up to 6 feet in height
- Certain low retaining walls
- Oil derricks
- Some movable counters and partitions
Important: Exempt from building permit does not mean exempt from zoning requirements. Separate zoning permits can still be required.
