  1. Obtain building permit application form from the Office of Building Permits & Inspections in person or via email request
  2. Complete the application form with property owner signature

  4. Submit completed application and fee to the office via email at permits@jeffersoncountywv.org or in person at 116 East Washington Street, Suite 100
  5. Office reviews and processes application
  6. Permit is issued upon approval

General Requirements

A building permit is required for residential and commercial/industrial structures, remodeling and renovation projects, building additions, finished basements, detached garages, car ports, wood stoves, plumbing, mechanical, or electrical work, signs, fences 6 feet or taller, sheds/storage buildings, swimming pools and hot tubs.
