Victoria does not issue building permits or perform building inspections. Building permits and inspections are handled by the Lunenburg County Building Inspector. Victoria requires its own zoning application and zoning permit before erection, construction, reconstruction, moving, adding to, alteration of structures, or establishment of land use within town limits.

Application Process

  1. Confirm the property is inside Victoria town limits and therefore subject to the town zoning permit requirement before county building permitting.
  2. Download and print the Victoria zoning permit application from the town's zoning page.
  3. Complete the zoning form with applicant and owner information, parcel location and size, zoning district, ordinance section, water and sewer approval, written project description, and site plan if required.
  4. Return the completed zoning application to Victoria Town Hall in person. The town FAQ specifically instructs applicants to return the printed form to town hall.
  5. The zoning administrator reviews the application. If approved, the town issues the zoning permit, which is valid for one year.
  6. After obtaining the town zoning permit, separately obtain any required county building permit from the Lunenburg County Office of the Building Inspector. Victoria does not issue building permits.
  7. Proceed through county building inspections for building-code matters.
