  1. Download the Application for Building or Change of Use Permit (4-4-24 version) from https://townofstamfordvermont.org/forms-and-documents.
  2. Review the July 2025 Zoning Bylaws to confirm permit requirements and applicable zoning district rules.
  3. Contact the Town Clerk at (802) 694-1361 or stamfordvt@live.com for guidance on the Zoning Administrator contact and current process.
  4. Prepare site plan and required supporting documents.
  5. Submit completed application with fee to the town office.
  6. If Zoning Board of Adjustment review is required, submit Zoning Board of Adjustment Application per board schedule.
  7. Vermont's 15-day appeal period applies.
  8. For public/commercial buildings, file DFS state construction permit.
