Application Process

  1. Confirm that the parcel is in unincorporated Walker County and not inside a city or city ETJ permitting program.
  2. Contact Walker County Planning and Development to determine which county approval applies: development permit, subdivision/land development approval, floodplain approval, OSSF permit, driveway/access review, or related county control.
  3. Prepare the county permit package including ownership information, site information, tax and deed references, floodplain status, road frontage information, utility information, and project-specific structure details.
  4. Obtain outside approvals where applicable, including 911 address coordination, septic/OSSF issues, floodplain information, utility availability, deed restrictions, and city/ETJ certification when a tract is near municipal jurisdiction.
