Application Process

  1. Review the applicable city codes, fee schedule, and permit forms on the Building Codes & Permits page.
  2. Prepare the application and supporting materials. For new commercial work, the city requires three plan sets, one of which may be electronic, plus supporting documents and any water or sewer tap application if needed.
  3. File the application in person with the Community Development Coordinator at Livingston City Hall, 200 W Church Street.
  4. Respond to city review comments and any additional requirements. For new commercial building permits, the city says written comments and notice of additional requirements will be provided within 10 business days.
  5. Obtain trade permits as needed for electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fuel gas, and similar work, and do not begin work until permits are approved and issued.
  6. Call in required inspections during construction. No second-stage work may proceed until prior-stage inspections are approved.
