  2. Obtain local zoning approval where required and gather outside agency approvals needed for site plan.

General Requirements

County-issued permits are required for building work in county-served jurisdictions and for separate electrical, HVAC, hydronics, plumbing, fuel-gas, and other trade scopes where applicable.

Permit validity
County permits become null and void if work is not commenced within 12 months or is suspended or abandoned for 180 consecutive days after commencement.

Owner-builder
Owners of one-, two-, or three-family dwellings may perform specialty work under county homeowner waiver rules by signing the county waiver and accepting responsibility.
