  1. Contact the Cavalier County Recorder's Office at (701) 256-2136 to obtain a copy of the 2019 Cavalier County Zoning Regulations.
  2. Determine which of the 14 zoned townships your property falls within.
  3. Submit a zoning permit application to the County Recorder; applications requiring a variance or conditional use permit go before the monthly Zoning Board meeting with final approval by the County Commission.
  4. For septic/wastewater systems, contact the Cavalier County Health District (see Inspections) and Lake Region District Health Unit as a separate permit track.
  5. For electrical work, notify the ND State Electrical Board inspector for your district.
