  1. Download Building Permit and Procedure Form from Permits & Forms page or pick up at City Hall
  2. Complete form with property address, legal description, owner and contractor information, project description, and estimated project valuation
  3. Prepare site plan showing property dimensions, proposed building location, distances to property lines and other structures (four copies required)
  4. If project meets grading criteria, obtain grading permit prior to or concurrent with building permit application
  5. Submit completed application, site plan (4 copies), and required construction documents to City Hall
  6. Pay applicable permit fee at time of application or as invoiced
  7. Allow standard processing time for zoning and building code compliance review
  8. Obtain issued permit before beginning construction
  9. Post permit card visibly at job site
  10. Schedule required inspections through City Hall (402-274-3420)
