A land use permit is required for any new structure or accessory structure, including houses, garages, storage sheds, enclosed or roofed decks, signs, grain bins, grain legs, and barns. A permit is also required for moving a structure from one location to another.

Building code
Rock County ordinance states administration is in accordance with Minnesota Rule part 1300.2100 as modified by chapter 1305, and the Minnesota Accessibility Code is adopted for accessibility. The ordinance also states a Minnesota certified building official shall be appointed by the county.
