Application Process

  1. Optionally schedule an EDGE pre-submittal meeting with Planning & Development and related city departments
  2. Submit the zoning and plan review application and pay the zoning/plan review fees to the Planning & Development Administrative Assistant
  3. Complete Phase One civil/site review and zoning review, including land-disturbance review when one acre or more will be disturbed
  4. After site approval, submit building plans for Phase Two review by the Building Inspector and Fire Inspector; state fire-marshal-approved plans are required first when that state review applies
  5. After all plans are approved, submit the building permit application and list the trades contractors at submittal
  6. Pay the calculated permit fee; the city then releases the permits
  7. Schedule inspections through Planning & Development during construction, and obtain final approvals from building, fire, and engineering before the Certificate of Occupancy is issued
