- Permit validity
- A permit expires if work does not commence within 180 days of issuance or if work is suspended or abandoned for 180 days after commencement. The expiration period may be extended once by an inspection within the initial 180 days or by written request approved by the Building Official.

- Mixed schedule. Humboldt uses unit valuation and square-foot schedules for many residential project types, lineal-foot and cubic-foot schedules for some items, and valuation or contract-price brackets for others.
- Reinspection fee
- Inspections for permits issued 5 or more years before the requested inspection are $242.00. Inspections without a specific fee are charged at the fully burdened hourly rate with a 1/2-hour minimum.
- Penalty (no permit)
- Special investigation fees and code compliance mitigation fees are double fees. Permit or plan check renewal when the same code cycle remains in effect is 50% of the original permit fees.
